Breckenridge Colorado Rubber Duck Race August 31, 2013
In Breckenridge, Colorado over Labor Day weekend is the 26th Annual Great Rubber Duck Race put on by the Summit Foundation. This fun Breckenridge event is held in the Blue River right in front of the Riverwalk Center. The rubber ducky races start at 1pm with the Kids Duck Dash, sponsored by Hudson Auto Source. 750 ducks will race to the finish line at the Riverwalk Center bridge where 40 prizes will be awarded based on how fast the ducks swim down the river. At 2pm the Business Battle race begins, each duck will race down the river hoping to win one of the coveted prizes that are group activities around Summit County.
The Great Rubber Duck Race will start at 3pm. Where nearly 10,000 ducks starting at Main Street Station will float, swim and bob down the Blue River. This is quite a sight to be seen as the Blue River turns yellow with all the quackers coming downstream. There are many prizes awarded with this large duck race including the swimmer that comes in last. Awards will be given out to at least 50 ducks and the grand prize is a week-long trip at a location chosen by the winner.
