Kingdom Days in Breckenridge Colorado

June 18 - 19, 2011

Kingdom Days in Breckenridge ColoradoThe fifth annual Kingdom Days is this weekend in Breckenridge, Colorado.  This is a weekend of fun where Breckenridge pays tribute to its gold mining, saloon and brothel past.  There are so many activities during Kingdom Days for adults and kids.  The main event of the weekend is on June 19th at 3pm, the Outhouse Races.

Outhouse - Outhouse Races in Breckenridge ColoradoThe Outhouse Races is where groups get together, create an outhouse with a theme and then race them down Ridge Street.  One person has to actually sit on the "John" while their teammates push them down the street.  Prior to the race spectators can view the outhouses in person and vote for their favorite outhouse.  Prizes are awarded for People's Choice and Race Winner.

Wondering why the event is called Kingdom Days?  Breckenridge is known as"Colorado's Kingdom" because Breckenridge could not be found on some copies of U.S. maps until 1936.  In 1936 the town was incorporated and then placed on maps.
